Anna Bohli

Ave Maria University

2023 Vincent T. Vaccaro Scholarship Recipient

Hello! My name is Anna Bohli and I am from Fairfax, VA. For four years, I was heavily influenced in my faith life by my Religion and Ethics teachers at St. John Paul the Great High School. I knew that when I graduated, I wanted to follow in their footsteps and become a Religion teacher where I could help future students cultivate a faith life that reaches beyond the classroom, and to make Jesus a desire in all parts of their lives. I also have a love for playing soccer and wanted to continue to play soccer at the collegiate level. My goal was to find a college with a strong Catholic Theology program and also an excellent soccer program focused on forming successful athletes and strong women of faith. I found this unique combination at Ave Maria University. Receiving the Vincent T. Vaccaro Scholarship from the Associates of St. John Bosco made it possible for me to follow this dream! I am honored to be the recipient of a scholarship named after such a faith-filled man. I am excited to continue my studies, play soccer with a great group of other women, and return to the Diocese of Arlington to be a Catholic school religion teacher!

General Scholarship

The recipients of the General Scholarships have each been awarded a scholarship in the amount of $4,000.

Austin Alanis

William & Mary

2023 General Scholarship Recipient

Hello! My name is Austin Alanis, a 4th-year Kinesiology major at the College of William & Mary. Aside from school, I also work part-time for Tribe Football as an equipment manager and I serve the Catholic Campus Ministry as the Service & Justice chair. The ASJB has been a tremendous help to my family and me. The scholarship has helped me prepare to pursue priestly formation for the Diocese of Richmond and graduate without student debt. I extend my thanks to all supporters of the ASJB for your very generous work in supporting those who seek to serve our Church. St. John Bosco, pray for us!

Bernadette Woltering

Ave Maria University

2023 General Scholarship Recipient

Hi! My name is Bernadette Woltering. I am currently a sophomore at Ave Maria University, studying Classics and Humanities. I was extremely honored to receive a scholarship from the Associates of St. John Bosco this summer. After I graduate, I want to be a Catholic School teacher, because I love learning and sharing what I learn with others. Teaching is also an awesome way to fulfill my baptismal call to evangelize alongside others who have the same goal. It will allow me to constantly exercise the spiritual work of mercy to instruct the ignorant. I would like to thank the Associates of St. John Bosco from the bottom of my heart for putting me one step closer to that goal by helping me attend a faithful Catholic university, where I can receive an excellent education and grow in my faith!

Jared Plasberg

Christendom College

2023 General Scholarship Recipient

My name is Jared Plasberg, and I am from Winchester, VA. I am currently a student at Christendom College in Front Royal, VA, and am double majoring in Philosophy and Classical and Early Christian Studies. The ASJB scholarship allows me to pursue and be shaped by the truths and mysteries of divine revelation in a vibrant Catholic community at Christendom College. I plan to support the Church’s mission through the lay apostolic organization of the Legion of Mary, which forms men and women into authentic apostles who will bring Jesus Christ to others. I would like to thank the Associates of St. John Bosco for selecting me as a recipient of the scholarship and for their generosity in helping students serve the Church.
